VMH has been caring for the Viroqua area as an independent, non-profit organization since 1951 and is one of the largest employers in Vernon County. We are a Critical Access Hospital with Rural Health Clinics located in Viroqua, Westby, La Farge and Soldiers Grove. We have an Orthopaedic and General Surgery center, a modern medical office building, family practice clinics, several retail pharmacies, a 24-hour emergency department, an Urgent Care clinic, and visiting specialists who hold office hours in our Outpatient Specialty Care Clinic.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers contribute countless hours of service each year to Vernon Memorial Healthcare. We offer many opportunities to volunteer and make every effort to place our volunteers in areas where their abilities and creative talents shine! Volunteering at VMH Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community! In addition to the great feeling of making a difference, volunteers receive other benefits including:

We are currently seeking additional Hospital Ambassador Volunteers, Patient Companion Volunteers, and Grounds Upkeep volunteers. No experience is necessary, as you will receive all of the information and training you need to be successful, including an orientation, tour, position-specific training, and job-shadowing. We have a variety of shifts available to fit your schedule. Shifts are typically between 2-3 hours. Start your volunteer experience at VMH today by filling out our online form!

The Transparency in Coverage Final Rule is part of the No Surprises Act initiated on January 1, 2022.  This rule requires that starting July 1, 2022, insurers and group health plans publish machine-readable files (files containing data in a form that a computer can process) showing in-network rates and out-of-network allowed amounts for services provided.

Job Shadow Program

Interested in a healthcare career? VMH would happily arrange a job shadow experience. Designed to help choose lifetime careers, participants spend four hours with a healthcare professional and observe their daily work.

A job shadow experience can be arranged by contacting Organizational Development/Learning at (608) 637-4407 completing and returning your job shadow application and registration. Please allow at least 3 weeks advance notice. VMH departments may have guidelines and dress codes that must be followed. Patient privacy must be adhered to at all times.
